Dash Eg

Oil on wood panel + digitally manipulated

Hi, my name is Dash. My hand is currently itchy, I am at a computer in my studio, trying hard to not be annoyingly meta. I’m a big fan of observing my reality, how fragile, flexible or static it may be. Traditional painting and drawing have been a way to anchor myself in times of confusion and drastic change. I am less interested in evolving the craft than I am in using it as a way to stabilize my focus. Currently, existentialism, post-modernity and the anti-aesthetic are my more broader scopes of study and observation, but when concepts become too ethereal, I am able to turn to painting as a means of solidifying what is material; what I can touch. insta: @dashegg

Seppe De Meyere

Oil on canvas

The work of Seppe De Meyere characterizes itself substantially through replication and light. Provoked by atmospheres of unease, eeriness and stasis, his paintings constitute a slow digestion of the human form over time, often placed in ambiguous spaces. Tapping into the feeling of segmented scanners, his work creates a rippling gravitas that generates the perception of a faltering visual echo – his imagery is projected through the lenses of our contemporary vices, initiating a feeling of an uncomfortable familiarity, culminating in a recognizable, yet neoteric reality. Seppe De Meyere is part of the founding core of the 404-collective. They’re currently establishing a vibrant community of artists, with emphasis on artistic transparency. Rayden Lawrence

Hygienic Chess is a fully functional chess board hand-carved out of soap. I carved all 32 game pieces and all 64 squares for the board using full bars of soap, using 27 bars of soap in total. I plan to handle the pieces and wash them after the completion of each game of chess, until they have been worn down until you can no longer distinguish a pawn from a bishop.

Rayden Lawrence is an lgbt+, 21 year old emerging artist. Rayden is from Canso, Nova Scotia and he graduated with a BFA in Visual Arts from Memorial University in May 2021. Rayden periodically addresses lgbt+ identity and racism in his work, inspired by challenges he has faced in his interracial same-sex relationship. He enjoys life drawing, illustrating landscapes, and elements from childhood.
